How it all started
Since 2015, Brian and Mariel were both teaching students in their respective countries. Then, in 2023, Brian made a visit to Santiago, Chile where he met Mariel. They immediately bonded over their love for teaching and shared a dream of starting a language company. They wanted their students to not only learn a language, but enjoy the journey of mastering it. With the help of AI technology and their passion to teach, Elite English was born!
Brian’s Background
Brian earned his Bachelor’s in Linguistics from the University of Maryland and his Masters in Teaching English (TESOL) from Pepperdine University in 2016. Since then, he has had a multitude of jobs within international education. He started as an English teacher, then English tutor, and now currently works for The Chicago School as an International Student Recruiter. He is ready to get back to his passion and help students achieve their academic goals. In his free time, Brian enjoys being active by taking his dog to the beach, playing sports, and seeing live music.
Mariel’s Background
Mariel attended the University of Santiago de Chile. She earned a license in Applied Linguistics and Professional Translation in Spanish, English and Portuguese. She also earned diplomas in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language and Teaching English to Young Learners. Currently, she works as a language instructor teaching English to Chileans and Spanish to Foreigners. In her free time, she loves to read, listen to Luis Miguel and The Killers, and spend time with her family.
